On the consumer market there simply isn't anything that's faster. (Ocaholic.at on the RevoDrive 3 X2) Ocaholic, Austria)
With the RevoDrive 3 X2, OCZ introduces the successor of their very successful PCI-Express SSD line-up for the enthusiast market. One of the differences to its predecessor is the controller: they now make use of the SF-2281 which is a lot faster than its previous generation. However, there are more improvements. The bridge chip now also offers TRIM support and the possibility of reading out SMART data, features that were not supported by the original RevoDrives. The TRIM command isnt functional yet due to the fact that Windows does not yet support it but OCZ is working hard on getting Microsoft to address this matter.
In short, The RevoDrive 3 X2 with 480 Gigabyte is an unbelievably fast PCI-Express SSD. 1.5 Gigabyte per second of sequential throughput is simply overkill for a desktop system. The IOPS are absolutely staggering. In our benchmarks the drive was over 2 times than any SSD that we have tested before. We can go on trying to explain how incredible this product is but this experience simply cant be put into words. You really have to sit in front of a PC with the RevoDrive 3 X2 installed to get a clear idea of the sheer performance of this product.
On the consumer market there simply isn't anything that's faster. OCZ did everything right and their even supporting Microsoft with their know-how.
We decided to reward OCZs pioneering spirit and effort with our highest rating: five out of five stars.
